just plain effective
ABOUT MTPR
Experienced. Small. Attentive. The husband/wife team of Tom and Mona Mesereau has been publicizing travel clients, large and small, for 25 years. Clients have included national park concessioners, state park lodges, adventure resorts, historic destinations, adventure outfitters and more.
WHAT WE DO
We get your travel company noticed. Even in today’s world of instant sharing and user-driven content, the work of credible, skilled travel journalists is as influential as ever. Our job is to persuade editors, writers, photographers, broadcasters and social media influencers who have the reach and credibility to tell your stories to their audiences.
SERVICES
No two clients' PR needs are the same, so no two MTPR client programs are the same either. Some clients want and need an aggressive, monthly program, while some clients just need an occasional press release. We will match needs to services to create just the right approach for you. Some of the services in our toolkit include:
Press trips: Inviting qualified journalists to experience your travel offerings can result in many positive stories over time. We coordinate every detail of the trip, including inviting the right journalists, coordinating travel, developing the itinerary, hosting the trip and ensuring stories.
Qualifying journalist requests: Most travel companies receive requests for media courtesies such as free accommodations and experiences. We evaluate requests and advise our clients about appropriate responses and offers of assistance.
Media blitzes: We’ll arrange and accompany clients to one-on-one meetings with journalists in any target market.
News releases: Well-written news releases distributed to carefully customized lists of journalists remains one of the most impactful tools in our arsenal.
Pitches: We will “sell” your stories to journalists through targeted pitching.
Blogs and e-newsletters: When you need a direct-to-traveler approach, we will write newsletter or blog stories that deliver your messages artfully and effectively.
Social media: We will work with your social media team to create pithy, on-topic messages.

WHY US
Seasoned Professionals: We already understand your business. With more than six decades of combined experiences as marketers, journalists and PR pros – and nearly all of that experience specifically within the travel industry – Tom and Mona bring senior-level professionalism to the table.
It’s easy to work with us: You tell us what you’d like travelers to know and what markets you’d like to grow. We’ll give you a plan of action that suits your schedule and your budget.
Not too fancy: We’re just not that slick. You’ll be wowed by our results, not our Power Point presentations. That’s because we spend the bulk of our time telling our clients’ stories to journalists. We’ll talk often and regularly report on results.
Results: Month after month, our clients’ stories appear in national outlets like The Travel Channel, Outside Magazine, Home & Away and USA Today as well as regional media such as hometown newspapers and television and niche blogs about topics ranging from family travel to hard-core adventures.
WHO WE ARE
About Tom: As a PR professional I have been promoting destinations on behalf of our clients since 1996 as one half of Mesereau Travel Public Relations. Prior to that time, I helped bring together freight forwarders and customs brokers from around the world as director of marketing for an international organization. My career got its start as an editor of BodyShop Business, a startup trade magazine in the automotive aftermarket that became the leader in its market segment. I am a Certified International Tour Manager. I earned my bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
About Mona: I’ve been telling travel stories for nearly 40 years since I graduated from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism. On any business day, I might be talking to journalists about luxury whitewater safaris, tales of the Old West, national park lore, mountain festivals or affordable family fun. Before Tom and I formed Mesereau Travel PR in 1996, I was a public relations executive in the hospitality industry and an editor of a lodging magazine. When Tom and I aren’t traveling on business or for fun, we’re enjoying time with our grown children and two very good boys.
